01/15/2009 Entry: "ROCK HALL, INC."
From Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: Today, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announces its 2009 Inductees, ticket availability to the Induction Ceremony and a weeklong schedule of events to celebrate the Induction’s return to Cleveland. On April 4, 2009, the Induction Ceremony will take place in Cleveland for the first time since 1997. The 2009 Induction Ceremony will be broadcast live on Fuse TV.
The performer inductees are: Jeff Beck Little Anthony & the Imperials Metallica Run-D.M.C. Bobby Womack
The 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performer inductees were chosen by the 600 voters of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation. Artists are eligible for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twenty-five years after their first recording is released.
In addition to being honored at the April ceremony, each inducted artist is commemorated at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland Ohio, which serves as a monument to rock and roll’s impact on our culture. These inductees will be honored – along with previous year’s inductees and hundreds of other artists – with an exhibit and film that serve to tell the story of modern music. Also check here for the official press release and here for the press conference (should auto play).

Just got back from DC show. Amazing! Did they stop using pyrotechnics on this tour altogether?

Thingy, you are kidding, right?
One more question about these "will call" tickets. The metclub booth will be open the whole time, right? If I show up around 8:00, they will still be giving out the tickets?
As you can see, I really prefer getting sent the actual tickets in the mail.

Are you serious Thingy? I didn't even think of that. It doesn't make too much sense we a band couldn't set off a couple firecrackers a whole 5 days before the inauguration....maybe they didn't let the road crew bring the pyro stuff into DC altogether. Great show though.

So does this mean they won't be able to set off pyro in the Philly show too? Or was it just DC?

The DC show kicked ass and boy was it loud!! I think this was the first time I have ever seen Metallica play One without PYRO.
The lasers kicked ass and the boys sounded very sharp and had TONS of energy. I was able to score two picks and one of those GIANT beach balls.
And for you hockey fans...Alexander Ovechkin and Mike Green from the Capitals were at the concert with floor seats. Nothing like rock'n out to the greatest band in the world with todays greatest hockey player!

Sounds awesome dude, funny thing too when I saw Metallica in Calgary, during their red mile stint (yuk... I am an Oilers fan) I saw Mikka Kiprusoff and Mike Commadore in line with me, got to meet them. Kipper said this was his first north americian concert and he was excited. And Ryan Smyth was in the front row across from me.

Yeah I talked to Mike Green of the caps the other day at there practice facility and he was trying to get tickets for the concert. I was very surprised to see Ovechkin there but both of them are VERY down to earth and super nice guys.

The following is from Metontour about the DC show: "DC crowd is HOT tonight! So far we have heard Life, Line, Horse, Harvie, and now One has just ended. Up next, BBS! Oh, and in case you were wondering, there is no pyro tonight. Something is happening next week here and they didn't want anything to go wrong."
Like Ice Nine mentioned, maybe they weren't even allowed to bring pyro around the entire area. Sounds like it was a good show, however. Video from 1-12-09 still not up yet.

MOT just posted videos from Detroit and Milwaukee. DC should be up later today.
re: the pyro, I'm guessing that the secret service and whoever was involved in that decision didn't want to risk that pyro getting into the wrong hands, so they just pull a wall around DC for the week denying anyone the chance of bringing something like that into the area even if it was supposed to be used long before the inauguration.
I'm heading out the door within the hour to head up to the Philly show tonight. I'm expecting we'll get some of these for the wildcard slots: Creep/Bellz, The Unforgiven, Blackened, Breadfan and Whiplash. I won't bother trying to hope for a truly rare track, instead I'm hoping for Leper Messiah or AJFA, both of which have been played at times on this tour. Those are probably the only songs being discussed that I haven't seen them play.
Either way, I can't wait. It's been 4+ long years since I've seen them.

man at ozzfest they totally busted out ajfa...so fucking cool! i was not even expecting it, i had been learning the solos just before that and to see kirk play that shit like ten feet in front of me was a mind fuck. at some point i turned around to see the crowd and how shoddy of a seat i could have ended up in instead of the pit and man was it far as fuck away, i was very lucky, i'll be remembering that shit for sure.

Yeah, Philly was awesome. All of the new songs kicked ass and even though I didn't get to see any old stuff that I hadn't seen before, I also realized that I hadn't seen them do Whiplash since the very first time I saw them back in '92. So that was indeed a nice treat.
Kurt, you're probably already out the door but you should have a great time tonight.

It's fun to see all the comments about different shows and how much better they are now than "enter date here". I love hearing the comments every time someone sees them, because it's almost never "man, they sucked last night." For people who have never seen them before, the reaction is almost always the same, it's as if they got blindsided by a very large, very heavy object. I don't think there is anything that really prepares anyone for that first show. I remember that before my first show, I used to see lots of different bands and think they were great. After my first Met show, there weren't a lot of shows that really blew me away. Ozzy, Aerosmith, Slayer, maybe a few others. Bands that give legendary performances. But seeing Metallica a few times last year got me thinking about this whole "they are better than they were before" sort of thing. And it's weird, because I can't think of a time when I saw them and thought it wasn't a great show. The show in San Diego where they recorded Binge and Purge was sort of off because it was the first time I'd seen them where they had gone over the edge on popularity, and not everyone in the crowd was an insane fan who knew every song by heart and sang/yelled every word. It was weird adjusting to seeing people just standing there. GnR tour was great, even though it was post-Jaymzcineration and he only played guitar on Sandman. (GNR was pretty good too, but they really had a hard time living up to the "opening" band, especially at 2:30 in the morning or whenever Axhole could be bothered to come out of his dressing room.) 94 Summer Sanitarium was the first (and thankfully only) time I saw Jaymz with the mullet. Hot as hell in Vegas, Candlebox was boring beyond belief, Fight was OK, Rob's band was amazing, and I just remember Metallica being what I expected. Reload tour and "the Acoustic set that should not be" was not bad, but Irvine Meadows is a crappy venue. (I actually liked the acoustic version of Horsemen at the time, but I may have been wrong.) The show was still among the best I've seen. I was at the show at the Forum where they played Dyers for the first time ever, and had a good time getting the lyrics right where Jaymz didn't. Also saw the near disaster of one of the lights falling out of the lighting rig. At first I thought it was another cunning stunt, and then I realized that I had almost seen Jaymz get killed by a roadie f-up. Again, the show was still just REALLY good. 20+ shows and I don't remember anything else that seemed off. I guess with so many shows I've seen them give, it just really blows me away that there aren't any I can remember being bad. Before the first time I saw them live, I didn't know a live show could be like that. Now that I know, it's set my expectations to a level that I'm not sure any band can reasonably expected to meet all the time. But they still do it a lot more often than not, and that's why I still go. I think the thing with having vids up on Youtube after the show kind of takes away from the experience, since I go to a show and think "wow, they really nailed Damage tonight" and then go home and watch a video on Youtube or download the show, and go "Hmmm, I didn't notice that Jaymz missed that note when I heard it live." Stripped of the live experience screaming the lyrics with an audience full of fans, some of the magic is lost, I think. Before anyone knew that the song was called "The Ecstacy of Gold" we just knew it as "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" and I think everyone knew those things were there as a beautiful mix of seething power and raw emotion that was embodied in 4 guys leading the mayhem that was the audience. It lent real meaning to the altered lyric "We will never stop, we will never quit, because YOU are Metallica." It's something lost on someone who's only seen them on Youtube, but I think it's the definition of the term "great live band."

Sorry about the stupid long post. I got all nostalgic and started looking for links. Check out the vid in the middle of the page. Lars shows his early abilities at generating douche-chills when he talks, and Jaymz' savage live performance shows that he's never had a very good grip on intonation, and it doesn't matter in the least: http://www.gibson.com/en-us/Lifestyle/Features/the-original-monsters-of-rock/
This was a quote I remembered from the time of Monsters where Sammy proved he was a fortune-teller: "They'll be the new kings of rock. Just you wait and see."--Sammy Hagar

OK, here's my review. We got there during the end of Machine Head's set. My son(and niece) were absolutely shocked by the volume. I warned them, had earplugs for them, but it did not prepare them for how loud it was(of course it seemed normal to me, which is why my wife always complains how deaf I am). Now, I REPEATEDLY asked my son if he wanted anything to eat. Kept sayin no until 9:15(about exactly when they were supposed to come on), so doing what I had to do, I missed the last 1/2 of harvester and the first 1/2 of bellz.
The show itself, in a nutshell.....awesome. This was my 5th time seeing them. It almost felt like the first. This seemed different to me. Maybe it was the lack of big screens, lower amount of pyro, the lasers(which looked really cool). But this show seemed to focus on their playing more than the last 3 I went to(can barely remember the first show on the GNR tour, other than being completely blown away). And did they ever play. That show had the least amount of flaws(of course the live recording may reveal more) and the most energy I've seen from these guys. And I have been totally stoked every time I've seen them before. But something was different. There was almost no talk between songs. The only break they got was the intro's to a couple of the songs.
One time James did stop to talk, he pointed out a 13 year old in the first row. Asked him how old he was, and told him how cool his parents were. This of course made me and my brother in-law look at our kids and made sure they realized the same. We were in the 9th row, not too bad.
1. TTJYL: they played it awesome, great opener.
2. EOTL: again played very well
3. Harvester: that place was rocking and swaying like crazy(and now I leave for popcorn)
4. Bellz: just caught the end(thanks again bill)
5. One: awesome, epic. Since this is the song(via guitar hero) that got my kids hooked, it was awesome watching his response to it live.
6. BBS: I liked(not loved) it on the record. But I've been singing and humming it every since, to the point I've been told to shut up already. It came off great live, and the crowd participated well with "what don't kill ya make ya more strong"
7. Cyanide: again, performed very well, the guitars sounded really good on this one live.
8. Sad But True: The last time I saw this, james was singing it with sully erna. That was cool and unique, but sunday night it was just crushing. It sounded like godzilla strolling throgh the park.
9: Justice: my first thought was, are you fucking kidding? This is a song I just assumed I would never see live. It was absolutely awesome.
10: ANL: another awesome performance. I wondered how well they would nail this one. No need to wonder, they killed it.
11: TDTNC: beuty leading into power, another awesome tune.
12: puppets: nothing needs to be said
13: battery: one of my favorite songs ever, played to perfection.
14: NEM: At this point, I was wondering if they were even gonna bother with it. Up to this point in the show, almost no breaks(30 seconds tops). There were no breathers, well I guess this was it. Of course, played as well as usual. My son asked why they slowed down for.
15: sandman: of course had the crowd going.
16: stone cold crazy: I've always thought it OK,(was hoping for breadfan), but they played it with lots of speed and power and it sounded really good.
17: Hit the lights: Never saw this live before, it was fast and awesome.
18: S&D: Love the song, never thought it the best closer, but totally love the song. Probably my sons favorite song next to one and sandman, so he was really digging it.
Side notes: my brother in-law caught one of the beach balls and was going to keep it, but my neice punched it away(knucklehead).
No St. Anger or load stuff. I like the load stuff, but heard plenty of it live before. Other than frantic, it seems SA has been shelved. I have to say, the St anger songs(other than frantic and the one performance of sweet amber) always seemed to have a little glitch or hiccup live. Every DM song was played near flawless. I can only assume it's due to how they were constructed.
Great show, will definitely be going next time they come to boston.

kurt, reading your review makes me want to go see them again right now!
I've been listening to My Apocalypse a little more now. I've always liked the song, but it's probably the least played on the album. I love TDTNC, it is epic. I set the beginning guitar as my text message tone. I need to watch some youtube videos on how to play that on my acoustic.
I'm guessing that the next single will either be another fast one or The Unforgiven III. I could also see U3 replacing NEM live. I hope I'm right about that.

Well, I listened to the entire DM(guitar hero version) in the gym this morning. That concert just pulled me right back into listening to that non-stop.
Hopefully someday we get U3, Judas Kiss and My Apocalypse live.

Tony, I don't think he had anything above the lip, but just the lower half, quite a bit of fur hanging off the chin.
Could have been an older picture.
I got the livemet show from boston and it sounds really good. In general, the livemet's sound better from this tour than the last go round. Like I said in the initial review, not many errors in the set. A couple of small things here and there, but otherwise very tight.

Rob Flynn the singer from Machine Head does have a goatee. He's a pretty cool guy, not as cool as Phil the other guitar player. I would've loved to see them instead of Down. There's confirmation Tony. Davidian, great song, but I'd recommend checking out their catalog. Obviously they ain't Metallica, but like Metallica they tried different things musically and got blasted for it. I guess those parallels drew me close to them as I've been a Metallica fan through the times when they refused to use the term "Metal".

Well, I've got all the machine head records. Couple of really good songs off the first couple of records, then a bunch of songs that sound the same. Couple good songs on the burning red(blood, sweat and tears the best of em). Thought supercharger was lousy. Through the ashes and the blackening had a bunch of good stuff on there.
Overall, they are pretty good, but second tier to be sure.

I wouldn't argue that Kurt. There is really nothing in their arsenal that can be considered a "Heavy Metal Classic". I really do consider "The Burning Red" as underappreciated. It does have a couple of semi rap metal tunes, but Blood Sweat and Tears is the standout track. Five is good as well, and The Burning Red (song) I liked a lot. Supercharger... Other than "Crashing around you" , "All in your head", and "Deafening Silence" the rest is a lot of filler, but what band isn't guilty of that. Though the Ashes is pretty fuckin' solid. Imperium, Descend the shades of night, elegy, Presence of my enemies, and seasons wither are pretty kick ass, and I think The Blackening is the best metal album of the last few years not named Death Magnetic.

So I'm sitting here at work trying to catch up on paperwork. For some reason I get more done with music on, than when the sports radio is on.
So with the inspiration of the show I just went to and listening to the livemet recording, I decided to play the bootlegs of all of the shows I have been to. I have four of the five(so far as I can tell I've never seen a copy of the 2003 summer sanitarium show from foxboro). It's been pretty cool listening to how they've played the songs differently over the years, and I have gotten some work done.

Hey Thingy, yeah it's true. Kirk was the first to come on stage and was jamming on the main riff. After that Lars came in and then James. They jammed on it I'd say for a little over a minute. I was really hoping for the solo or the melodic part, but it was mainly what you hear for the first part of the song. I was excited to hear that though! Also, the ACDC riff they play after Seek was different this time. It sounded like a Metallica riff, but nothing they have written yet. So I am kinda curious if I am crazy or not... whatever it was, it was good though.

Which reminds me after seeing the in Milwaukee and Chicago I didn't hear one Load or ReLoad song. It would be nice to at least hear one full song each night that always changed off those two albums. There are plenty they could play. I mean is it just me or would you rather hear a Load/ReLoad song or die die my darling and stone cold crazy? I'm going Load/ReLoad....

On the Cunning Stunts video I saw that Ain't My Bitch counded awesome live, they definately should kick that one up again. Load has to be one of Rock and Roll's most underrated albums of all time, every song on that disc to me is strong. Personally I think that Until It Sleeps is James' best lyrical effort as well.

I would like to see a load/reload/anger medley. When they were playing all newer stuff in the 90's they put the old stuff in a medley. Well, now that it is all old and new, with no middle, make a medley of the middle years.
I loved the set that I went to. No complaints. But there was a lot of good stuff from load to anger that would be nice to at least get snippets of.
I listened to the acoustic version of All within my hands again, really good song(on st. anger and the acoustic version).

Yeah, Justice, Blitzkrieg & Hit the lights were great surprises and I'm so happy that I saw those songs played live. Aside from feeling like shit with a massive headache and constant coughing, it was one of the best tallica shows I've ever seen. That was the 1/31 show. Can't wait till they come to MSG in the fall. I'm definitely going!!!

This is way off topic, but was anyone else at MSG for S&M in '99?? I'm dying to get some kind of video footage and/or audio from that show. That was one of the best shows I've ever seen. James' voice was a little off but I'll never forget For Whom The Bell Tolls....the whole fucking garden was going nuts!!!! it was the best thing I had ever seen. If anyone knows if I can get a copy of that show please let me know.

Monster, I saw S&M both night in Berkley... and I'll have to agree that there was something magical about Bellz. Just the way all 100+ instruments onstage played that main riff.. it was overwhelmingly powerful.

Metallica & Linkin Park For Knebworth? terrybezer / News, Top Posts / 05/02/2009 16:29pm According to internet buzz, two of the biggest bands out there will be heading for Knebworth.
Rock and metal site Thrash Hits are reporting that Metallica and Linkin Park will headline a brand new festival at Knebworth.
While this is just a rumour at the current point in time, Thrash Hits say that an official announcement is expected at 10am on Monday, January 5th.
With Download also expected to make it’s announcement on Monday, it’s going to be a hell of a day for metal!

I actually don't mind coldplay. Don't love em, but I'd take them over a lot of other stuff on pop radio. My particular gripe with this grammy is that this song is very clearly ripped off from Joe Satriani. Even if they somehow don't get there asses sued off for it, musically educated people(which I would hope grammy people are) should realize what that song is and NOT give them the grammy.

I really don't like Coldplay. Them and James Blunt both drive me up the wall when I hear them.

Oh yeah, I agree with that. They should definitely be in the pop category. The "rock" category seems to have a very loose definition.

working in the media section of a best buy; i have to put up this that shit all day long. it is so frustrating to have usher, beyonce, blackeyedpeas, new kids, the whole high school musical casts' careers, and jay-z (and i could go on and on and on) alphabetized from aalyha all the way to zz top. rock/pop/r&b? really? how about blending humor with gospel and latin with rap while we're at it. where does it end? where are the lines?

I don't really care the these are the same people that gave Jethro Tull hard rock grammy so if Metallica wins or not really doesn't matter. Awesome video though of James giving his guitar away, that guy was absolutely histerical. His eyes just about fell out of his head, what a great reaction to an excellent gesture. I woulda likely passed out. It's a real testament to what kinda guy Hetfeild really is.

says Xino... "I'm not close-minded at all... I listen to lots of different music. Heavy Metal, Prog-Metal, Speed-Metal, Thrash-Metal, Doom-Metal, Sludge-Metal... see I'm well-rounded!" Sorry to bust on you, but listening to a Prog-Rock (which happens to be my favorite kind of music) band "jam" on the same chords for hours sounds boring to me. I love Dream Theater as well, but they've never made a single song over 11 minutes that couldn't have been divided up into other songs. If there's one fault of Prog-rock music, it's the level of pretentiousness involved in creating it in the first place.

Never heard of Gentle Giant. I guess they weren't that great. Seems they were only active for a few years in the 70's and then disbanded because they lost their way musically. ("it wasn't because of punk, it was because we had lost our way musically.")

Judas & Nightmare are great thrashers still

Well All Nightmare Long hasn't changed as my favorite... but I even like it more, and it's amoungst my all time Metallcia favorite songs, U3 I like a bit less, I still enjoy it though. The End of the Line I never really had much thought towards but now it's one of my favorites. And My Apocolypse makes me want to shit kick a mother fucker... I love it!
Posted by Yukoner @ 02/17/2009 08:06 PM EST

I've also gone through a number of phases. The End of the Line didn't start as one of my favorites, but now I play it all the time. I think it might have been seeing them do it live that made a difference for me on that one. All Nightmare Long didn't start out as one of my favorites, but it's definitely among my favs now. The Day That Never Comes went from being one of my favs to something I would skip to now back among my favorites. U3 and BB&S are probably the two that have spent the fewest amount of time being among my favorites from the album. On the other hand, Judas is probably the only song that's always been near the top for me.

I just got in the mail a dvd of pantera live from 7/15/94. That night Jason came on and played seek & destroy, then whiplash(with phil on guitar and dime singing). It was a pretty good quality bootleg. Andreas from sepultera and Chuck from Testament also made appearances.
Definitely worth picking up if you are into pantera. It seems to be before Phil lost his mind.

I tried them out but don't really care for them. The guitarists can play, but the singer kind of annoys me. I forget the name of the disc I got, but I seem to remember either Clayman or Clayface being the title of one of their more acclaimed cd's.
Hard to tell who else to try when we have no idea what you already listen to, but outside of the big four and all those of that generation, I listen to a lot of lamb of god, machine head, slipknot. For me too many of the younger bands either A) do a poor imitation of anselmo and/or B) go so over the top with the drumming and mega-fast riffing that they don't really seem to care about constructing a song to remember.

curtis moon- out of curiousity, were you trying to name as many horrible bands as possible? Seriously.. A7X, Rebel, Trivium, Iced Earth.. All horrible bands. And "mastodon if you have the balls".. lol. Because, y'know, Mastodon is a "really heavy" band or something.
Regarding In Flames: I don't like them. Their singer is horrible, the guitarists do write some good melodies but have basically repeated the same thing, just with a gradual atrophying of quality, ever since their first album. And the bass and drums are useless. If you must check them out, get either Lunar Strain, Jester Race or Whoracle, which are their least worse albums.
General metal recs would be: early Running Wild, Candlemass's newest album. Get Darkthrone's latest few for fun, raw Motorhead worship. Or really early Sepultura- Beneath the Remains, Schizophrenia.. super fierce early thrash. Ulver's first album is something I always recommend to people looking for new stuff, it's heavy and sometimes fierce black metal, but also very pretty and forest-y. It's really well done and far better then most of the modern black metal crap.
Just don't bother with shit like Machine Head and Slipknot.. worthless garbage.

Cooper, huge hockey fan here!! I used to think Crosby would be the huge star in the NHL, but Ovechkin is the man. He's an unbelievable all around player that is fun to watch. That goal against MTL was nuts...another higlight goal to add to his many is his short career so far. Can't wait for my Brodeur to come back. I don't know, MONSTER...I hope they don't rush Marty back. (this is from someone that is not a Devils fan---Go Flames!) They have some pretty good team chemistry going on. I think they should ease him back gradually in a back-up role and wait for Clemmensen to stumble before giving Marty the starter's job back. Brodeur is 37 years old, as great as he is, he's not gonna be able to just turn it back on--it will take some time for him to get his timing back and get comfortable. I hope he does make it back, because I'd love to see him pass some of Roy's records.

Went to the Caps - Pens game today and someone placed pictures of Crosby in all of the urinals! LOL Anyways, Crosby spent the entire game complaining to the ref - it was funny to watch and disturbing all at the same time. I am glad someone like Ovechkin said this about Crosby "What can I say about Crosby?" he said. "He is a good player, but he talks too much. I play hard and if he wants to hit me, he can hit me, not talk to you guys about who plays cheap and who plays dirty. That's my game... If he doesn't like it, it's his problem." After Crosby did some complaining about how Ovechkin hit him, Ovie had this to say "What, I can't play hard against him? What is he going to do, cry?" Thats Classic!!! Cindy Crosby needs to get the sand out of his Vajayjay and just play! He is is such a pussy!

Crosby ain't so bad, he complains a lot but every game I see him play in he's the #1 target from all opposition, and he takes his licks harder than anyone else in the league, by a margin. But yeah he does do his share of whining, and he would come off as a lot tougher if he just shut up and played through it. I do think Ovechkin is a more dominant and dynamic player though.

As much as I hate to say it, I agree with you. I've loved Mart since I first saw him play in his rookie year and he's the reason I started to play in net when I play hockey. I hope they don't throw him in and expect him to play the way he was before his injury. It will take a little time for him get back to game shape, but when he does...look out. He will break all goaltender records and I feel bad for Clemmensen becasue he played awesome and helped us out big time. However, it seems like the Devs have been scoring a lot more goals lately, which also helps him out a little. Can't wait to see my favorite player back on the ice. I have center ice, so I get to Calgary play now and then, and they are fun to watch. Kipper seems a lil shaky sometimes, but I do hope they make the playoffs. Trying to keep this post 'tallica related.....I keep blasting end of the line BBS & suicide all the time in my car going from appointment to appointment

A well rested Marty is a good thing for the Devils heading into the playoffs. Over the past few years it looked as if when the Devils got into the playoffs, Martys game started to take a slide. Hopefully they don't try and play him 75+ games next season.

You're absolutely right cooper. I really think it'll only help them in the playoffs. The worst job to have in hockey has to be the backup goalie for the Devils. I'm sure they'll scale back his games next season and give Clemmer some more playing time.

The new lamb of god disc is pretty damn good. I think I liked sacrament better, but still really good stuff on this one.
On the classic rock side of things, I got the latest rush cd when it came out, but nothing really stuck out to me much. But this weekend I watched the dvd of the tour and it got me listening to the cd again. It's really good, a lot more guitar heavy than a lot of the last decade or so has been for them.
I've also gotten into an Alice In Chains kick lately. I hope the new cd from them is good. Since Cantrell wrote the bulk of their stuff, I'm fairly certain it will be.

Love judas kiss, wish I got that in boston instead of cyanide(my least favorite DM track). Can't wait to hear how well they pulled it off.

Brodeur came back and got a shutout. Pretty nice!!! I saw the video of Judas on youtube and i thought it was cool but James need to me vocal/aggressive with the chorus. Maybe because it was the first time they played, but the chorus (which to me is the best part besides the bridge) was a little weak.

The metontour video of judas kiss was awesome. They have simply nailed all the new songs live. It didn't happen with the st. anger tunes, which I thought were simpler to play for the most part. I wonder why the difference.

Grohl is a good pick I think too, is Jason going to join them for the induction ceremony? I know he is an inductee since he was part of the band, but I wonder what their relationsup is these days. Glad to see Judass Kiss on the setlist, next up oughtta be My Apocolypse!!

I've heard that Jason and the boys are on good terms now. I could've sworn I heard James say that in an interview not that long ago. I'm sure he will be there, if he doesn't show up it will be messed up. He was doing more of the bashing when he left than the band. And yes, My Apocalypse should be up next.

Well, I saw an interview from mustaine on blabbermouth where he congratulated james and lars and thanked them for inviting him to be present at the event(which he said he couldn;t cause he would be in europe). Classy of them to invite him. Very classy on his behalf to say something nice. I love both bands, so some sort of peace between the two would be welcome IMO.

Hey MONSTER, 2 shutouts in 3 games for yor boy Marty--I retract my previous remarks about Brodeur's comeback. lol!

Thats right EET. A lot of ppl are retracting theire commenst about Marty coming back. I just want him to break these records asap and focus on the playoffs. It all matter comes playoff time. It would've been interesting if Dave Mustaine was there at the RRHOF. Cool that they invited him and he was classy about declining. Life's too short to hold grudges and take away from an awesome event for Metallica and Heavy Metal.

a Metallica/Megadeth tour would be one for the ages, but even with the kind words between them I just don't see it happening.. let alone a "big 4" tour.. even though that would be the greatest event in the history of the world ever. On a hockey note.. with Marty back and the offence NJ is putting on, I think they are now the most dangerous team in hockey.

The set lists continue to be interesting on the European leg. In London, on the negative side, for the second show in a row they didn't play The Judas Kiss. Hopefully that sticks in the rotation. On the other hand, they played for the first time since 2004, Holier than Thou. And then in the cover/KEA slots in the encores, they dusted off for the first time since they did it once in 1995- Too Late Too Late.

Damn right Yukoner!!! and EPDA, I think I agree with you. It just kicks so much ass like any first track should. Classic Metallica there....in my opinion.

I am an Oilers fan but as I see it NJ looks lethal, Sutter deserves the JAck Adams too I think. That Was Just Your Life is just such a thrasher! Killer opener, All Nightmare Long is still my fave though,

good stuff yukoner. Oilers fan her too. Live in Ottawa, so seeing them play here tomorrow night. Also the first game after the trading deadline. I hope Comrie is still on the Sens so we can taunt him.
TWJYL, TDTNC and BBS for me.

I just watched the second clip and that's a report from the first concert on the GNR/Metallica tour. I was at that show (in DC). More memories, lol. The first time I ever saw Metallica. And I've been hooked ever since.
Oh and I love Slash's explanation about how the huge stages of the two bands is the reason for the hour and fifteen minute break between Metallica and GNR sets. Yeah, I'm sure his lead singer didn't have anything to do with the break- which was about 1:40 that night. But, we did get the upper deck throwing plastic cups on the lower deck and a bunch of girls showing their breasts to the camera, so it wasn't all bad, lol.
