08/06/2007 Entry: "BANDitems"
Our friends over at BANDitems are back with some cool hard to find items, including: the 1994 Camo Crew shirt, the very first MetClub shirt, a Reading shirt, an itin/pass set, and green Lighting record. BANDitems is owned and operated by Tony Smith - Tony was Metallica's tour manager, personal assistant, MetClub founder, president and editor (all that and more). Tony's a dear friend of Inter Sandman, which is why he gets this plug from us! Check it out over at BANDitems !

Just pre ordered the new Foo Fighters and bought the single "The Pretender". Very good song, one of my favorite bands.

i think this has been mentioned before, but we should make some intersandman shirts or something, i would wear 'em proud --nick-- i've seen foo fighters before, not the best show but still, they rocked, not a big fan though, theres something about dave playing a guitar, i mean i was so used to see him behind the drums, he still looks weird with a guitar...

I saw the foo do an acoustic set opening for Dylan. IT was pretty cool, would prefer them electric, but still an awesome set.

Hey JD, I'm definitely in for a IS t-shirt!!! This is the only website that come on (except for Metallica.com) for any news. And honestly I check this site out first before I go there. We should all do something to support this site & show our numbers!!!

Yeah I am a huge Foo Fightes fan, good rock and roll, high quality music. And I would be down for a T-shirt, I don't post often, but I visit many times daily, usually good metal and 'tallica and all round music conversations found in here

nice! should we put our names on the back? just a small list of the people who get the shirt so each year theres a different list? you should include 07 in the shirt
Posted by xino @ 08/10/2007 09:08 AM EST

|
|
just kidding about the earlier comment. Nice design JD. did you come up with that yourself?
Posted by anonymouse @ 08/10/2007 09:33 AM EST

|
|
Yes, my design... not much too it, plain and simple. Inter Sandman around James' new Scary guy -- three colors: red, white and grey. Still thinking about some other ideas, maybe something with the logo from the top left of this site?
Would probably lose the sleeve design for costs. No, for the names... it would date the shirts too much and I'm guessing I'd have to order at least 25 shirts to get them at a decent cost and I don't see selling them all.

Ok, I'm hoping to get 20 shirts sold right from the start... hoping to keep shirt cost (with shipping) at or about $15 US -- but I'm guessing it could be as high as $20 shipped. They will be quality shirts, I hate cheap t-shirts.
I'm gonna work on getting some prices within the next few days and if I get close to the price, I have some stuff from BANDitems that I'll throw in for the pre-orders... so you might get a pick, or a pass or something nicer.
So, this will help out with the box o' swag Tony sent me a while ago for an IS giveaway/contest.

So I am reading the new So What!, which is by far one of the best ones ever, and a lot of the earlier pictures show Hetfield playing a black flying V. I had never seen ANY pictures him playing a black V. It was always the white one. Gotta love the old days!

There's really nothing to be a member of much anymore, so basically anyone can buy a t-shirt.
Are you sure James was playing a Flying V, not a Jackson V? I think he played a BC Rich live a couple times as well.

yeah he was playing a black V, with Ron and Dave in the group. You have the new So What!? It was in a couple of pictures.

I was @ Barnes & Noble today, looking at car magazines. I'm a huge car fanatic and even work in the automotive industry. I immediately recognized James' '53 Buick Skylark on the cover of The Rodder's Journal and took a look inside. They have a lot of nice pictures in the magazine and they go into a lot of detail on the work that was done on it. James mentioned that Cali named the car Skyscraper. Here's another picture of it: http://www.roddersjournal.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=76&zenid=c67eac8032c9c15082ae2d574dca1789

im into metallica big time, those live videos are bad, anyone compare those recordings to Live S**t binge and Purge the one of Justice, now that is Metallica.
Kirk cannot remember solos any more James voice has evolved Lars cant keep the correct drum patterns and the songs sound like rough jams of the songs we know and love.
I have every album and loads of singles / dvd's, seen em 4 times, but the Fact is that they cant play as well as they used to(technically).
I do hope the new album is Rocking, i for 1 will buy, hope its a rubin classic, not throw away.
Metallica !!!!! Rock on Baby

Save the bullshit comments for blabbermouth.net. People will like you better on that site. He isn't perfect, but ANYONE with a good ear would realize he isn't as bad as you say he is... unless you talk to the 13 yr olds on blabbermouth. Good day sir.

Even though this is a fan site, people should still be allowed to criticize. You can't have any sort of discussion without criticism.
I recently downloaded their Bilbao set. Perhaps it's just me but Lars and Kirk sounded pretty tight. The only minus was James's voice- it sounded like he'd blown it out, it was out of tune, he wasn't really in control of his vocals.
Perhaps it's because returning to the more aggressive style was bad for his voice- in most other recent shows he was sounding excellent. Regardless, he was definitely out of tune in a few places.

I'm sure that takes a toll on his voice now a days. It ain't the same live every show. He lost his voice when I saw them in Milwaukee. Still awesome show though.

In a brand new article published in this past weekend's edition of the New York Times magazine, co-head of Columbia Records Rick Rubin spoke about his work as a producer for such bands as METALLICA, LINKIN PARK and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.
Whenever he agrees to produce an album, Rubin scrutinizes the songs before going into the studio. Rubin works slowly — it can take him years to finish an album. "A lot of that is because of the songs," Rubin explained. "I try to get the artist to feel like they are writing songs for the ages rather than songs for an album. As they write, they come over and play the songs for me. For some reason, most people will write 10 songs and think, That's enough for a record, I'm done. When they play the songs for me, invariably the last two songs they've written are the best. I'll then say, 'You have two songs, go back and write eight more.' "
His responses are instant, specific and constructively definitive. In the early METALLICA sessions, Rubin has been exacting about different drum sounds. "Lars" — Ulrich, the drummer — "will play two things for me, and I'll say, 'This one is great and that one is terrible,' " Rubin recalled. "Lars will say: 'How do you know? They both sound good to me.' Well, I just know. The right sound reaches its hand out and finds its way. So much of what I do is just being present and listening for that right sound."
